ACITAK 150 MG TABLET- 10 is an antacid. It reduces the amount of acid produced by your stomach. It is used to treat and prevent heartburn, indigestion and other symptoms caused by too much acid in the stomach. It is also used to treat and prevent stomach ulcers, reflux disease and some other rare conditions.
Uses / Indications:
Heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (Acid reflux),Peptic ulcer disease
Interactions / Warnings:
Alcohol use can increase acid secretion, acid reflux in food pipe causing heartburn and decreasing effect of this drug. Also, Cimetidine can decrease alcohol breakdown and increase its level in blood.

A: Acitak causes gynecomastia (enlarged breasts of males) by decreasing the male hormone (testosterone) levels and blocking the receptors on the target tissue on which testosterone acts. However, the breast enlargement would go away once you stop taking this medicine.
Q: Can I take Acitak with loperamide?
A: Acitak can decrease the metabolism of loperamide, increase its blood levels and hence, increase its effects and side effects. Your dose of loperamide may needs to be decreased. Consult your doctor prior to taking both the drugs together.
Q: What are the side effects of Acitak injection?
A: Headache, dizziness, somnolence, gynecomastia, impotence, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting are some of the side effects reported with the use of Acitak injection.
Q: Is there any vitamin and mineral loss when Acitak is taken?
A: Acitak is not known to cause mineral loss or deficiency. However, Acitak belongs to the class of H2 receptor blocker which can decrease vitamin B12 absorption and cause its deficiency as reported in some studies especially when used for more than two years.
