Description:

Acitrom 0.5 Tablet- 10 is an anticoagulant or blood thinner which is used in the treatment and prevention of abnormal blood clots. This medicine does not dissolve the blood clot that has already formed but may prevent it from becoming larger and leading to more serious problems. Close monitoring of INR and prothrombin time is necessary during treatment with this medicine.

Pregnancy interaction:

Acitrom 0.5mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Good medication for preventing blood clots. For best results, take Acitrom at the same time every day. Requires regular blood test (PT-INR), to make sure Acitrom is working properly. Acitrom increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling). Notify your doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood). Interacts with food or other medicines; hence require frequent dose changes. If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Acitrom temporarily. Acitrom should not be used in the pregnancy. You may breastfeed. Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.Acitrom 0.5 Tablet- 10 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Acitrom 0.5mg Tablet is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems.
