Interactions / Warnings:

Taking Silodosin with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience a headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

Pregnancy interaction:

Alphacept 8mg Capsule is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Alphacept helps in relieving the symptoms of enlarged prostate. It doesn't decrease the size of the prostate. Alphacept must be taken with food. You will feel better within hours or days of starting treatment. Full effect is usually seen within 2 weeks. Alphacept may cause you to feel dizzy, faint, lightheaded, or weak, especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension). Take special precaution if you have to drive, use machines or do any activity that needs alertness. If your undergoing eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Alphacept. Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alphacept 8 Capsule- 10 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alphacept 8mg Capsule is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily.

Q: Is Alphacept better than Tamsulosin?
A: Alphacept and Tamsulosin belong to the same class of drugs and are equally good in relieving the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, Tamsulosin commonly causes postural hypotension and dose reduction is not needed in renal disease patients whereas Alphacept more commonly causes retrograde ejaculation and its dose may need to be decreased in patients with renal disease.
