Information about Anzavir-R Tablet- 30

Description:

Anzavir-R Tablet- 30is a combination medicine used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. This medicine is not a cure for HIV. It only prevents the virus from multiplying in your body. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients weighing less than 40 kgs.

Treatment of HIV infection

Pregnancy interaction:

Anzavir R 300 mg/100 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Before starting with the treatment, you should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any health condition. Your doctor may suggest regular laboratory tests to check your blood counts, kidney and liver functions, and other health conditions. If you are HIV positive, you should not breastfeed or share personal belongings like razors or toothbrushes. Consult your doctor to know about safe sex methods in order to prevent transmission of HIV during intercourse.

Side Effects:

Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Altered taste, Increased blood lipid level, Increased liver enzymes, Skin rash, Peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness of feet and hand).

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Anzavir-R Tablet- 30 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Anzavir R 300 mg/100 mg Tablet is a combination of two anti-HIV medicines: Atazanavir and Ritonavir. They work by interfering with an enzyme (protease), which is required by HIV-infected cells to make new viruses. This stops the production of new viruses.
