Description:

Augmentin 1.2gm Injection is a combination medicine used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin interferes with the growth and division process of the bacterial cell wall while clavulanic acid ensures extended anti-bacterial activity. This combination is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs and airways, middle ear, sinuses, skin, and the urinary tract.

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis. Inform your doctor if you have any history of gastrointestinal diseases. Report any incidence of severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and blood in stools to the doctor immediately. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

How it works:

Augmentin 1.2gm Injection is a combination of two medicines: Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate amoxicillin. Addition of Clavulanic Acid reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Amoxicillin against bacteria.
