Description:

Choltran Powder for Oral Suspension- 5gm is used to reduce the high cholesterol levels in the blood. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect. It is also used to relieve the itching associated with partial biliary obstruction (blockage of the bile ducts). This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 6 years of age.

Pregnancy interaction:

Choltran 4gm Powder for Oral Suspension may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Lowers ""bad"" cholesterol (LDL) and raises ""good"" cholesterol (HDL). Regular exercise and low-fat diet further helps to lower levels of fat in the blood. Can be used with other medications to lower cholesterol. Can delay or decrease the absorption of certain medicines such as digoxin, warfarin and thyroxine. You may take them 1 hour before or 4 hours after taking Choltran. Always take Choltran with food and a full glass of water. A multivitamin supplement containing vitamins A, D, and K, and ÃŽÂ²-carotene is recommended when taking Choltran.

Side Effects:

Constipation.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Empty the granules in a glass of water/milk, stir it and consume immediately. Choltran 4gm Powder for Oral Suspension may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Choltran 4gm Powder for Oral Suspension is a bile acid binding agent. It removes bile acid from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol. Because the body use cholesterol to make bile acids, the levels of cholesterol in the body is lowered.
