Description:
Dizone Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of alcohol addiction. It works by producing interaction with alcohol and thereby causing unpleasant effects like nausea, flushing of the face, headaches. Thus, it discourages the patient from taking alcohol while on this medication.
Dizone Tablet may be taken with or without food. Take this medicine as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor. Remember while taking this medication, avoid alcohol in all forms including beer, wine, aftershave lotions, mouthwash, vinegar, and liquid medications.
Some common side effects of using this medication are headache, fatigue, drowsiness, and metallic taste. Initially, it may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It is important to know that you should take this medicine in combination with a counseling program as it will provide extra help to maintain abstinence from alcohol. Remember it will take time, support, willpower, and determination to readjust the habit of not drinking.
Interactions / Warnings:
Dizone 250mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy interaction:
Dizone 250mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Expert advice:
Do not consume alcohol during the treatment and for up to 14 days after discontinuation. Disulfiram may cause drowsiness or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you are affected. Avoid taking disulfiram if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or you are breast feeding. Before you take disulfiram inform your doctor about all the prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicines you are or were taking. Patients who are receiving or have recently received, alcohol, or alcohol-containing preparations, such as cough syrups, tonics and the like, should not take disulfiram, If you drink alcohol during or within 2 weeks of stopping disulfiram a serious and potentially life threatening reaction may occur along with severe symptoms such as flushing of the face and neck, increased body temperature, sweating, urge to vomit (nausea) vomiting, itchy skin or rash caused by an allergic reaction (pruritus, urticaria) anxiety, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, difficulty breathing, palpitations, rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, abnormally slow breathing, chest pain, abnormal heart rhythm, coma or fits may occur. Consult your doctor immediately if you suddenly experience any of these symptoms after stopping the treatment with disulfiram.

How to use:
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Dizone Tablet- 10 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How it works:
Dizone 250mg Tablet blocks the chemical which breaks the converted form of alcohol in the body. This leads to an increased level of converted form of alcohol in the body causing bad physical features while drinking alcohol.
