Information about DM Syrup

Description:

DM Syrup is a combination medicine which may be used to relieve symptoms such as a cough and nasal congestion associated with various medical conditions. It is not recommended for use in patients less than 2 years of age.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. DM Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

DM Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine and Dextromethorphan which relieve dry cough. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which helps reduce cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger, histamine. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant which relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain.
