Description:

Gemitrol NS Nasal Solution- 6ml is a medicine used in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. It makes the bones stronger and lowers the risk of fractures. It may also be used to treat Paget’s disease of bone and to quickly reduce calcium levels in the blood.

Uses / Indications:

Post menopausal osteoporosis, Paget's disease, Hypercalcemia

Interactions / Warnings:

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Gemitrol NS Nasal Solution- 6ml

Pregnancy interaction:

Gemitrol NS Nasal Solution- 6ml may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Do not take calcitonin if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcitonin or to any of the other ingredients of this medicines.Avoid using calcitonin in condition such as low levels of calcium in blood (hypocalcemia).Calcitonin is not recommended in children under 18 years of age. Do not drive or use any tools or machines, if you feel dizzy, tired, have a headache or get disturbed vision after taking calcitonin.Long term treatment with calcitonin for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis have shown an increase in the risk of cancer in clinical trials.Calcitonin is recommended to be taken at bedtime to reduce the side effects like urge to vomit (nausea) and vomiting that are generally experienced at the beginning of the treatment.

Side Effects:

Injection site reactions, flushing, skin rash, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, edema, musculoskeletal pain, joints pain, high blood pressure, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, frequent urge to urinate, dizziness, headache, tremor, and visual disturbance

How to use:

Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Insert the bottle tip into one nostril and close the other nostril. Direct the spray away from the cartilage diving the two sides of your nose and toward the sides of your nostril. As you spray, breath gently and keep the head upright. Repeat in the other nostril.

How it works:

Gemitrol NS Nasal Solution- 6ml is a calcitonin receptor agonist. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.
