Interactions / Warnings:

Taking pioglitazone with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Pregnancy interaction:

Glisen PM 1 mg/500 mg/15 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Side Effects:

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), Nausea, Altered taste, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Headache, Edema (swelling), Weight gain, Blurred vision, Bone fracture, Respiratory tract infection.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glisen-PM 1mg/500mg/15mg Tablet- 15 may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Glisen PM 1 mg/500 mg/15 mg Tablet is a combination of three antidiabetic medicines: Glimepiride, Metformin and Pioglitazone. tThey work by different mechanisms to provide better control of blood sugar when single or dual therapy is not effective. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide. It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which further increases insulin sensitivity.
