Description:

Glucobay 25 Tablet- 10 is an antidiabetic medicine which is used to control elevated blood glucose levels. It is used only in patients diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. It may be used along with Insulin or other medicines in order to achieve better control over the blood sugar levels. A controlled diet and exercise routine may give better results

Type II Diabetes Mellitus

Interactions / Warnings:

Taking acarbose with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Pregnancy interaction:

Glucobay 25mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Glucobay is used together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and avoids long-term complications. You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines along with Glucobay. Glucobay lowers your post-meal blood sugar levels, and therefore should be taken just before meals. Side effects such as stomach pain, gas, and diarrhoea may occur during the first few weeks of treatment but should get better with time.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glucobay 25mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How it works:

Glucobay 25mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It inhibits the intestinal enzymes that cause breakdown of complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents blood glucose from rising very high after meals.
