Pregnancy interaction:

KALICEPT 15GM SACHET may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Do not use magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia) or sorbitol along with polystyrene sulfonate. Do not use if you have low potassium levels in blood. Do not use in patients with risk of developing constipation or impaction (bowel blockage). Doctorâ€™s advice should be considered in case of disease conditions such as severe congestive heart failure, severe high blood pressure, and kidney disease or marked swelling. Inform your doctor if you are on sodium-restricted diet. Consult your doctor before taking polystyrene sulfonate if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.

Side Effects:

Nausea, Vomiting, Decreased potassium level in blood, Decreased magnesium level in blood, Increased calcium level in blood.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Empty the granules in a glass of water/milk, stir it and consume immediately. KALICEPT 15GM SACHET may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

KALICEPT 15GM SACHET binds with excess potassium which is excreted in the feces, decreasing the potassium levels in the blood.
