Description:

Myotan CT 40/12.5 Tablet- 10 is a combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Frequent monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes levels is necessary during treatment with this medicine. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in children since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Taking Chlorthalidone with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.

Pregnancy interaction:

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women except in life-threatening conditions. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.

Expert advice:

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus due to the increased risk of altered blood glucose levels. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels is advised for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Myotan CT 40/12.5 Tablet- 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Myotan CT 40/12.5 Tablet- 10 is a combination of two medicines: Azilsartan and Chlorthalidone which lower blood pressure effectively. Azilsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels.This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
