Description:

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat depression. It is a combination medicine which calms the brain by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells. It also increases the levels of some chemical messengers in the brain and improves mood.

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.

Pregnancy interaction:

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.

How it works:

Sertakem AZ 0.25 mg/50 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and sertraline which have anxiety-lowering and mood-enhancing effects. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which increases the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Sertraline is selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which increases the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger that improves mood.
