Description:

Sizonorm Forte Tablet is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. It is a combination medicine which calms the brain by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells. It also blocks the action of a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood.

Sizonorm Forte Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Expert advice:

Take caution while taking medicine if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid wearing contact lenses as it may cause dry eyes as well. It is important to inform your doctor if you suffer from glaucoma or have trouble in passing urine.

How to use:

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sizonorm Forte Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How it works:

Sizonorm Forte Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Chlordiazepoxide, Trifluoperazine and Trihexyphenidyl. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. Trihexyphenidyl is an anticholinergic which works on the nervous system and corrects some of the chemical imbalances that cause Parkinson's disease.
